I am counting down the days until the next rustic retreats yoga holiday begins! Gorgeous views, peaceful surroundings, sunshine, poolside lounging and of course yoga and a whole st of workshops to deepen your practice. One of the things I love about Rustic Retreats is the relaxed nature of the retreats. Yoga teaches us to honor our body and mind by listening and becoming more aware of what we need and how we feel.   At Rustic Retreats there is total flexibility regarding attendance at the yoga sessions and workshops.   After all, this is your yoga holiday.   I planned this retreat programme with the intention of sharing with you all the things I love about yoga;  freedom, connection to others, play, challenge and meaningful experiences.   I have some awesome workshops planned that I am excited to share with you.

 

Two of the workshops will be focused on our physical yoga practice. I have named one ‘Break it down’ which will cover or uncover some of the common obstacles to the tricky looking poses.  The other is Acroyoga, which is beautifully defined on http://www.acroyoga.org/   "AcroYoga blends the wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics, and the loving kindness of healing arts. These three lineages form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness, and community.”   I couldn’t have put it better myself (I actually couldn’t).   When I first heard about acro yoga I couldn’t really see the appeal but after giving it a go and experiencing these three lineages I am a fan and you can expect to have lots of fun and laughter in this session.

 

Now, it’s always good to have balance so we will have time for some contemplation in the philosophy-based workshops – ‘How to be happy’ and ‘Yoga philosophy now’.  The real benefit of these sessions is taking away something that you can apply to your daily life to bring about positive change.  So we’ll focus on practical advice that is relevant to you today.

 

One more workshop that I am really pleased to share is a creative art making session.  Sometimes creating can seem a bit daunting especially if it isn’t something we do very often.

 I meet so many adults who consider themselves to be not very good at art and conversely many children who just love the opportunity to get at the art materials.  In the spirit of embracing play and challenge on this retreat, I will lead you through some simple exercises to spark your creativity and bring imagination to the fore.

 

Aside from the yoga, you will have the opportunity to explore the local area, be immersed in the outdoors, relax with a book, recline in a hammock and find space and time to reconnect to yourself.
