Journey through the chakras
Mums & babes in arms focused retreat. All are welcome

Style of Yoga to be taught

The yoga classes will be a mixture of Yin and Yang Yoga, also adding elements of Mandala Vinyasa. Our practice is designed to emphasise the notion of letting go. Letting go of how you think an asana 'should' look, letting go of comparing yourself to other practitioners, letting go of fear associated with particular Asanas.

Each Mandala class (or part of a class) will focus on the chakra/element/group of muscles that correspond with each day of the retreat. Mandala Vinyasa is performed in a spiralling way, moving around the mat. We will be using these spiralling movements to create a deeper connection between each element and its corresponding chakra (eg. Earth and Muladhara).

There will also be a focus on developing a seated/walking meditation practice. We will gradually increase the time spent meditating throughout the week and take time to discuss our meditation experience without become attached to either pleasant or unpleasant experiences had while mediating and/or practicing asana.

Rustic Retreats is the perfect location to practice mindfulness and allowing ourselves to become close to nature and a realisation of the notion that we are all one.

Your Rustic Retreats journey
(Mum's with babes in arms need to come with supporting friend)

This retreat is designed for all with an emphasis on Mum's and their supportes to have a safe space for them and their todler and we  will take you on a journey through the 7 Chakras and their associated elements. The intention of the retreat is to create a safe, healing space, where each person can explore freely and feel comfortable to do as much or as little as they want to do.

We will begin the retreat by opening the space and honouring the elements in a sacred ceremony. We will be looking to connect on a deep level to nature and the elements surrounding us at magical Bagend.

Each day will begin with a silent meditation and a dynamic Mandala Vinyasa flow corresponding to the element associated with each chakra (Earth, Water, Fire etc). Each element has an associated muscle group that we will be focusing on. For example on the first day of the retreat, we will spend time working on the hamstrings. We will then close each day with a Yin practice and further meditation. The meditations to close each day will be guided and will include Yoga Nidra & Metta meditation (loving kindness).

Muladhara (Earth)

We will begin from the Root Chakra, Muladhara, our grounding, the Earth. In this workshop we will explore some different meditation techniques. We will begin by finding our own comfortable meditation posture, taking some time to meditate and discuss. We will then connect to the Earth (the element of the Root chakra) and explore walking meditation, looking at the differences between the two techniques.

Swadisthana & Manipura (Water & Fire)

This workshop will be in two parts. The first part will explore the element of the second chakra - water. We will spend the first part of the workshop letting go of inhibitions and moving freely, like water, using our bodies and movements to express ourselves. a dynamic, moving meditation.

The second part will involve a candle gazing meditation, enabling us to feel, manifest and get in touch with our inner fire.

 Anahata (Air)

In this workshop we will explore some different pranayama techniques including nadi shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) and we will also move energy while exploring some tai chi like routines, including the Golden Seed sequence. We can discuss different pranayama techniques and their benefits (what they are used for).

Vishuddhi (Sound)

Chanting, sound bowl meditation. In this workshop we will explore chanting, looking at different mantras and their meanings and spend some time building a powerful group energy with chanting and meditating with sound bowls to accompany and deepen the meditation.

Ajna & The Crown (Intuition & Higher Consciousness

This workshop will explore inversions. We will break down the poses and the process involved in getting into poses such as crow pose, headstand and forearm stand in a fun and lighthearted way, using both Yin and Yang techniques and some partner work. We will work to remove the fear so often associated with these poses and make them less threatening.
