I’m a yoga teacher and humanitarian worker and have been studying Yoga and Alexander Technique for the last 13 years. I gained my 200 and 300 hours Hatha Yoga Teacher Training certificates in 2015 and have been teaching group classes, private classes and various retreats since then. I have been taking contemporary dance classes at the professional level for the last 10 years.

I became acquainted with yoga many years ago as it was part of my contemporary dance training. Slowly I started to get more and more drawn to the yoga practice, because it gave me tranquility and peace of mind. In 2015 I decided to do both my 200 and 300 hours Teacher Training in traditional Hatha yoga.  Nowadays my teachings are a combination of hatha and (slow) Vinyasa. I would describe my style of teaching as down- to-earth, with much emphasis on correct alignment and safety. I have been practicing Alexander Technique for thirteen years now and I naturally incorporate my knowledge of the Alexander Technique in my classes, making use of the “directions” of the technique in order to improve students’ alignment.

Style of Yoga to be taught

The classes are suitable for both beginners and for advanced students who wish to improve their alignment and body awareness. I rather aim for my students to execute the more “simple” asanas in a correct and well-aligned way, rather than letting them perform the more “fancy” asanas in a less well-aligned manner. In my classes you flow from one asana into the other, usually in a slow manner in order to be able to execute each asana fully and correctly, without rushing through them.  My Teacher Training instructor used to say that “slow yoga is advanced yoga” and I still fully agree with that.

Your Rustic Retreats journey

Each morning and evening will see a meditation and a yoga class but they will be very different.    I would describe my classes as down to earth with an emphasis on correct alignment, breathing and relaxation and  could  include a balanced mix of backward and forward bends, twists, sidebends, balance poses, asanas on the back and asanas on the belly, a fun variety of poses to set you up for the day or prepare you for rest at night.  Most classes will also include some pranayama.


The morning classes, as the sun rises over the yoga platform, will be dynamic and more physically demanding in terms of muscular effort.   We will work on core strength, stability and balance and start the day with energy. The afternoon classes will be more restorative. At all times we will put emphasis on combining the movement with the breath and  apply the principles of the Alexander Technique to our yoga.


Each morning will begin with a different meditation to set our intention for the day. There will be a dynamic vinyasa morning practice each day with a different theme, for example letting go at the hips, or heart opening back bends. You will be encouraged to go at your own pace and listen to your body. We will finish each day with a restorative Yin flow, and finish with Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra is a very relaxing meditative practice that allows you to rest at a very deep level of consciousness.

There will be one workshop a day, it may be in the morning or afternoon. There is also the option to visit local markets on Wednesday and Sunday.




Your workshop programme

Workshop 1 - Intro to the Alexander Technique fusion.

What is Alexander Technique?  We’ll discuss some of the main ideas of the technique and do some yoga/AT exercises together.  You will get an idea about the technique and how it can influence your body and daily yoga and experience exercises.

Workshop 2 -  Yoga asanas and Alexander Technique - classic hatha asanas:

 We’ll apply the  technique’s principles to several basic  hatha asanas. We’ll use principles such as “direction”, “flow of energy” and “non-doing”.  We’ll learn how we can “do less” in order to execute the asanas with less tension. We’ll look specifically at the way in which we “enter” into an asana, making sure we do not create unnecessary tension.

Workshop 3 - Yoga asanas and Alexander Technique - restorative asanas:

 We’ll apply the technique’s principles to several restorative asanas.  How can you use the principles of the technique to create a greater release and deeper relaxation?   We’ll use principles such as “direction” and “flow of energy” in order to create more length in our muscles and more “letting go”.

Workshop 4 - Yoga and contemporary dance fusion:

In this workshop we will learn a yoga sequence that incorporates some principles of the Alexander Technique that feels and looks like a dance;  elegant and flowing. Practicing the sequence, we will create a yoga dance which you can take home and which will be easy to do by yourself.

Workshop 5 - Building your own practice:

Whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi who already practices at home, you will learn valuable tools for your  practice here.  In this workshop you will look at a balanced practice and how to build up your session to develop your home practice really making yoga part of your daily life.
