Release, Let go & Renew Yoga Retreat

4-10 October, 12-18 October 2018

An Autumn Retreat of Release

Autumn is a beautiful, vibrant and exciting season of transition. As we watch the leaves gracefully fluttering to the ground we are reminded that Nature’s cycles are mirrored in our own lives.

The season of transformation is a time to consider what no longer serves us and what can be released and surrendered. Just as the trees relinquish their leaves, we too can let go of old ways that might stop us from expressing who we truly are.

This retreat will honour the seasonal energies both in Nature and within your being. Through the practice of yoga, in all its wonder, you will be guided and nurtured along your path toward release and renewal.

Anna Hildreth

I believe that yoga is a philosophical life training and with practise you can gain a sense of empowerment and inner stillness which transfers into every aspect of life.

Yoga and nature in harmony have led me down a delightful path of wakefulness, compassion and contentment. My classes are often inspired by nature's elements allowing my students to connect more deeply to their surroundings.

In India I lived a simple life of purity and tranquillity learning from Hatha and Ashtanga masters. With that breadth of experience, I discovered that I enjoy most the creativity of Vinyasa Flow. I have since been offering well-structured, dynamic and playful classes with the perfect balance of Indian traditions and the 'exercise part'!  I practise Ashtanga regularly and enjoy fusing elements of the series into my flow classes. I believe in finding a harmonious relationship between energies and so I often teach and practise Yin Yoga restoring the balance of body, mind and spirit.

I am also a physiotherapist, my passion for the body's capabilities and my anatomical knowledge enable me to interweave intelligent alignment cues into my sequences. My classes are focussed, meditative and leave you feeling calmer, healthier, happier and in love with yoga!

Styles of yoga to be taught

The morning practice will be dynamic and energetic Vinyasa Flow Yoga. "Vinyasa" means "linking" which in this context means that the poses will be linked together in a flowing sequence, the movement will be linked with the breath and the mind, body, and spirit are linked as a whole.

It is a creative and intelligent flow style with an emphasis on alignment and safety.  Descriptive cueing and hands-on assistance will be skilfully interwoven into the practice to allow students to correct their own alignment, understand the mechanics of each pose and safely deepen their practice.

The evening practice will be Yin Yoga to balance out the Yang energy of the morning. This style of yoga is slow with each posture supported with props if needed and held for several minutes. This style of yoga encourages stillness and introspection. Physically it stretches soft tissues which are otherwise untouched and allows us a deep energetic release.

Your Rustic Retreats journey

In the beautiful mountains of the Sierra Epuna's Spain we will be immersed in Autumn’s energy of release. The falling of the leaves and bare branches remind us of the impermanence of everything and with that deeper awareness we will discover a growing appreciation for the beauty and preciousness of all things.

The leaves that the tree has shed decompose and become the fertile earth from which new growth can begin, just as when our outdated ‘stuff’ is released, renewal and the new generation of ‘stuff’ is fuelled.

As well as a season for letting go and release, Autumn is a season for harvesting. By reflecting on the fruits of our dreams we planted the year before and by celebrating our successes and achievements we find great abundance.

Each day you will explore styles of asana practice, pranayama, chanting and meditation that will guide you toward letting go of burdens and recognising what the present offers. With this freedom from baggage you will find clarity of your senses.

Each workshop is designed to help you deepen your release, comfort you through change and enhance your experience of liberation.

Your Workshop Programme

Workshop 1

Creating an internal furnace

As one of nature’s elements, we all have agni or fire within us. This workshop will draw on various yogic techniques to stoke that fire and use it to burn away negative samskaras, cleansing our way toward new impressions and ideas. We will ignite our bandhas and our breath of fire and we will roar like lions!

Workshop 2

Walking meditation

At Rustic Retreats we are off-grid and immersed in beautiful nature. This mindful walking workshop will help us align with the natural world and initiate our own seasonal change, connecting to the energy of Autumn. This quiet time for reflection will help you identify extraneous factors that no longer serve you, lightening your load and releasing you from burden.

Workshop 3

Sometimes we need a good shake up to see what’s important and what isn’t. Inversions quite literally turn our world’s upside down and can offer us new perspectives. This workshop will offer an inversion (or several!) for everyone, whether that’s lying on your back with your legs up in the air or a shoulder stand, headstand or handstand!! It will be a fun and uplifting workshop that will clear away some of your physical and mental debris ready for the compost heap!

Workshop 4

Autumn reflection

Consider your own personal harvest. What do you want to let go of and what do you want to incubate over the winter, ready to grow and blossom in the spring? This workshop will be a combination of thoughtfulness and journaling in the spot of Rustic Retreats where you feel most inspired and connected. There are seasonal questions for Autumn which when reflected upon can unveil truth and allow new ideas to surface.

Workshop 5

Stay grounded amidst transformation

Autumn’s energy of change can be dynamic and stimulating. This workshop will focus on Muladhara, our root chakra, so that we stay grounded amidst the dynamic energy. A variety of techniques including pranayama, chanting and asana will be used to balance the gunas during the cycle of transition leaving us feeling harmonious, joyous and sattvic.

I am honoured to share this journey with you and very much look forward to meeting in October. OM peace.
